A watch list is a list of symbols (stocks, Indices etc) that you wish to monitor for trades.
You build a watch list by:
- Deciding on a name for the watch list such as "My best US stocks"
- Choose a new symbol you wish to add to the watch list
- Evaluate the symbol's potential to see if it one worth trading (see separate page)
- Optimise the symbol so SwingTrader can find the best settings to trade with
- Check a back test to see if profitability is up to standard to keep in your watch list
You can very easily build as many watch lists as you like and move symbols from one watch list to another. The example shown above is a US Stocks watch list where all stocks have been optimised. The bottom two stocks are showing red and amber traffic lights (see separate page) therefore they should be deleted or moved and replaced by better performing stocks before trading this watch list.
Some help to get you started!
When you first open SwingTrader you will see an example watch list containing.
- UK stocks
- US stocks
- Indices
There are only a few symbols in each and some have been optimised and some not - just to give you a few examples to "play" with immediately.
In the SwingTrader Help section you will see links to the SwingTrader Members website where you will see example watch lists with many more stocks for you to add, evaluate and optimise. You can add these stocks to your own watch list if they fit your criteria as stocks you wish to trade.
We have tried to make it as easy as possible for you to get up and running quickly.
ALL major exchanges around the world are supported - see Free Data page.
